A day in town

Looking quite the part and fitting in with the local culture is a big part of the experience. 

On the river

A trip across the Mississppi on the ferry from Algeria to Canal St. Then up to the French Quarter to get in line at Cafe du Monde. 

Evidence of groups gone before us

A ceiling tile at Camp Hope attests to the 2010 mission experience from Duquesne. A quick survey at breakfast showed a desire to paint a new tile for this year's group but a call for artists still is as yet unanswered. 

A long, long day

We're about to turn in after a long long day. After arriving in New Orleans we made our way to Camp Hope and then an over due meal of midday pancakes at IHOP. There was time to explore the neighborhood and even hike down to the banks of the Mississippi. Now after reflection and pizza it's time to call it a night. 

At the airport

We've all made it through ticketing and security and bags were piled at the gate while scouts were sent out to search for food. Most of the group has been up for 20+ hours and are a bit punch drunk from lack of sleep. Lucky, with this group the punchiness comes out in a fondness for bad jokes and not general grumpiness.

Phoumg, Faithlyn, Sarah and I am at Laval House before we head down to the Campus Ministry Center to join the others. Phoung is teaching Vietnamese card games wish we all believe he is making up as he goes along.
