Local history

Upon return to Camp Hope we met with John Booth, local historian and story teller, who shared with us his stories of Katrina and the rebuilding efforts. He spoke about the tradition of volunteers whom we are following and the great affection he holds for them all. He brought the photo albums that documented the destruction and reconstruction of his own home and the homes of his family and neighbors.

After the talk we had New Orleans' traditional Monday meal- beans and rice with cornbread.
